šŸƒ 6 Lakes, Great Running Socks & our YouTube Drop šŸŽ„

In this third edition of RunLetters, we go from Sweden to YouTube to your feet (wait, what?)—yep, something for every kind of runner!

Hey there runner! Welcome back. Hope you’ve had a great week with some solid runs so far.

This week in RunLetters: a YouTube show launch (a personal one, hint hint), an athlete runner worth a follow, a summer race in Sweden you might want to bookmark, socks that are actually worth buying, and a podcast that’s perfect for your next easy run. Let’s get into it. ā¤µļø

šŸ“¹ Watchlist: Between Miles

Today’s a special day—because the first episode of Between Miles, the new YouTube show I’m co-creating with Lydia Oldham (@comerunwith.me), is live!

In this first episode, we dive into her wild run from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela: 650km in just 5 days and 17 hours (!).

Future episodes will focus more on specific running topics: how to recover best, what to do in between training blocks, dealing with fatigue, prepping for your first trail race… all the way to our top tips for road marathons and ultras.

One video a week.

šŸ“² Social Spotlight: Allie Ostrander (@allie_ostrander)

Allie’s a burst of good, contagious energy. Even though she’s just coming back from an injury, she should be called a professional athlete—because heck, she is one. She recently got back on track (haha, literally) and will be competing in the US Mountain Championships next week, June 1st. So keep an eye out—pretty sure that’ll be some good content.

On top of that, Allie’s open about her past struggles with an eating disorder, something she talks about in some of her content (also here). Judging by the comments she gets, it’s clearly something that resonates with and helps a lot of people.

I first found Allie through her YouTube channel, but her Instagram’s just as good. She used to pop up on my explore feed every now and then, and honestly, it’s worth the follow—even if it’s just for Georgie, her damn cute sausage dog.

šŸ—“ Events & Races: 6 Sjƶar (6 Lakes) in Sweden (5.5km, 10.5km, half and full marathon)

Still looking for a summer race? Something in August? Nothing on the agenda yet?
I’ve got one for you. The 6 sjƶar (6 Lakes) event on August 16, 2025, near Uppsala, Sweden, looks like the perfect mix of nature and good vibes. You (and your friends) can choose from four distances—5.5 km, 10.5 km, half marathon, or full marathon—each looping around one to six scenic lakes.

It’s not a trail race, but the courses take you through forests and along gravel paths, so expect a little more adventure than your usual city run.

And after you cross the finish line? You can jump straight into the lake to cool off. It’s a small race (about 1000 runners), which I personally love. Smaller races often have incredible vibes, good organization and support.

Pssst… in case you're wondering: FjƤllnora is about 15 km east of Uppsala. You can reach Uppsala easily by train—just 20 minutes from Arlanda Airport, or 40 minutes from Stockholm.

šŸŽ½ Gear & Gadgets: The Comfiest Socks (Sums)

Most of my running socks are cheap grabs from Amazon… except for two pairs. One came gifted with a pair of shoes, and the other? These absolute beauties from Sums.

I’ll be the first to admit I never thought running socks would actually make a difference. Just last year I was still running in whatever socks I had lying around. But if you’re trying to avoid blisters, good socks can be a gamechanger.

Most of the ā€œrunning socksā€ I’ve bought before were just glorified sneaker socks—fancy colors, maybe a bit of extra padding here and there. But these babies from Sums? Soft, snug, and honestly make my runs feel 1% more comfortable. And we all know: stacking 1%s is the name of the game when it comes to gear.

(Yes, I am saying that even the best watch, the fastest carbon shoes, and the highest quality socks won’t magically make you an athlete 🫣)

Anyway—if you’re curious, check out Sums. Thanks to my friend Lydia (@comerunwith.me) you can use the following code SUMS736 to get one pair extra for free when you order a pair.

✨ Wild Card: Coach Bennett’s podcast

If you ever listen to podcasts—on your run, or in the background while doing some mundane work—then I’d recommend checking out Coach Bennett. I first had him chatting in my ears through the Nike Run Club app (I followed their half marathon plan when I got back into running), and once I finished the plan, I actually missed hearing him talk.

His podcast episodes are usually around the 30-minute mark and cover all kinds of topics runners can relate to. He’s not just talking to the fastest or most hardcore among us. He chats about balance, how to schedule your runs, running in cold weather, running when you’re stressed… all of it.
Give it a listen!

šŸ The Finish Line

WOAH! That was the third edition of RunLetters!

Time for me to head out for a little shake-out run. I’ll be racing a 10K this Sunday. No idea how that’ll go as I’m not in top shape, but who knows. For now, have a great weekend ahead and make sure you hit the trails/roads. 🫶
